Celebrity make up artist, Melanie Inglessis, shared with us how she made Lea Michele to look flawless at the Met Ball.
For Lea’s Met Ball look, we took inspiration from her sexy DVF dress. The dress has a definite 70s feel, and I wanted the make-up to be fresh with a hint of drama on the eyes. I used copper tones to compliment the dark, midnight blue of the dress.
I started with Avon’s Eye Brightening Pencil in Honey Blue all over the eyes as a base. To give the eyes a glow and brightness I blended it out using a soft brush, much like a cream shadow.
I then used the same Eye Brightening Pencil in Plum Berry on the top and bottom lash line, on the outer corner of the eyes, and in the crease to start creating definition and that smoky effect. I blended that all with a crease brush in a back and forth motion to get rid of any hard lines.
Once I was happy with the shape of the eyes, I used Chanel’s Ombré Essentielle in Mahogany 51 to go over the lash line and outer corner in order to help set the cream; this prevents creasing and adds a little more drama to the eyes.
I used Illamasqua Liquid Metal in Enrapture on just the inner corner of the eye to brighten and also show that beautiful copper color.
Finally, I curled Lea’s lashes and added two coats of Avon’s Extra Lasting mascara in black.
I love countouring the cheeks as it help define the face. I used Kevyn Aucoin ‘The Sculpting’ powder in medium under the cheek bones, and finished it with Avon’s Be Blushed in Icy Petal on the apple of the cheeks only to give a freshness to the make-up.
Lastly, I applied Shiseido Perfect Rouge lipstick in Spiced Cream with my ring finger, a very natural shade to enhance Lea’s lip color.
