Interview: Z100′s Danielle Monaro Talks Self’s Workout In The Park & How She Keeps Fit

Self’s Workout in the Park is right around the corner (Saturday, May 12) – and Danielle Monaro, from Z100′s Elvis Duran and the Morning Show, will be emceeing the event AND taking the fitness classes.

Fit Celeb got a chance to ask Danielle a few questions about what fitness classes she’s looking forward to taking, what she’ll be doing this year to stay active, and how she keeps a healthy lifestyle with her crazy radio work schedule.

FC: What classes are you looking forward to this year at the event?

DM: OH MY GOODNESS!!! All of them! I had a blast last year! I love Kick Boxing and so “Sucker Punch” will be amazing! Also, The Dancing with the Stars inspired class “La Blast.” I also love the Masala Bhangra class!!!! Too many to choose from!

FC: Have you taken any of the classes at the event before?

DM: YES!!!!! Last year I took many of them. That’s why it’s hard to pick a fave!

FC: Is there any class that you will stay away from?

DM: Not if I can help it! Although, after “Rock Bottom,” I found out there were muscles I didn’t know I had!!! That is a tough class.

FC: What’s your favorite piece of workout gear (i.e. sneakers, pants, sports bra)?

DM: Sneakers! A good sneaker is so important. You need your feet to be comfy and supported.

FC: Are you still keeping up with your martial arts routine?

DM: Not the same way I was last year. I do more stay at home workouts. My schedule is crazy with my 6 year-old and 3 year-old. I try to incorporate them into my workout. We use the X Box a lot! There are many workouts on there that we love to do together. My favorite is “Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2012.” There’s a workout on there called “Wall Breaker” and it’s so intense. You have to punch and kick these bricks – the more you break, the better your score! It’s soooo awesome!

FC: Are there any outdoor activities you would like to take up this year (i.e. rollerblading, biking)?

DM: Yes! I love to Rollerblade! My husband bought me my latest pair and I love them! I usually go on my way home from work.

FC: How do you maintain eating healthy with your hectic schedule?

DM: It’s not easy!!!! We get delicious food and cupcakes delivered all the time at the radio studio. I bring my breakfast and snacks with me every day. That way I save money and I know what I’m putting into my body. If I pack things I enjoy, the less likely I will be tempted to eat other things. If I really want something, I have it! It’s all about balance. If something interests me, I will usually taste it and think, ‘HMMMM, do I really want this?’ The show has also been doing Weight Watchers this year. We have a weekly weigh-in and meeting at the station. Our Weight Watchers leader is AMAZING! Her name is Silmara and she is teaching us how to be healthier! I have learned how to incorporate more fruit and veggies into my diet. Also, it’s all about filling up on protein and fiber!
