Stay hydrated in the heat. Remember you also need electrolytes to avoid cramping muscles!

With it feeling more and more like summer, it is important to replenish your body with more fluids than the amount coming out of your body so you don’t get dehydrated. It is easiest to get dehydrated during the summertime from all the perspiration you’re doing on top of the regular metabolic processes. Besides water, drinks like Gatorade are excellent because they contain electrolytes. Electrolytes are ions that aide in body functions especially in muscle functions. A lack in electrolytes can cause muscle cramping. If you’re dehydrated on top of having an electrolyte deficiency, you’re in for some pain. Remember that when you’re working out during the summer, it’s important to stay hydrated while you’re working out, not just before and after. If you can drink a Gatorade while working out, that’s even better. It’s like a super blanket to protecting you from cramps!
