Johnny Depp & Roast Pork Are Bad For Chinese Moral Health?

In an attempt to censor pornographic and violent images in China from all personal computers, Bejing has ordered as of July 1 that all personal computers will have been preinstalled with Green Dam software blocking this sort of content.

However, when the software is installed and the image scanner is activated, "it blocks even harmless images of a film poster for cartoon cat Garfield, dishes of flesh-colour cooked pork and on one search engine a close-up of film star Johnny Depp's face."  The software doesn't detail how it filters its content.

The software also may block useful health education sites relating to sexual health and AIDS education. Even categories like "gay" and "illegal activities" may be filtered.

What do you think about the Green Dam software, too controlling?

To read more about this software, don't get censored here.
