Celebrity trainer, Ramona Braganza tells her secret weapons for sculpting A-list bodies
Having sculpted some of Hollywood’s hottest bodies like Jessica Alba, Halle Berry, and Scarlett Johansson, we know celebrity trainer Ramona Braganza gets results!
But what we don’t know are the secret weapons that help her celebrity clients maximize their workouts, until now! SHAPE Magazine took a look at what the trainer carries inside her gym bag, and the contents may surprise you! Ramona Braganza also explains the contents and their importance!
1. Jump Rope
I always have my jump rope in my bag. If I’m training my clients in their homes, it’s the perfect way to incorporate interval training and get a quick 3 minutes of cardio in between the strength training sessions.
2. Heart Rate Monitor
When I work out, I like to train at the right intensity so I rely on my heart rate monitor to help me reach my goals. I use the Omron’s HR-210 because you wear it like a watch and it’s accurate.
3. Ipod
Even a high-profile trainer needs a little musical motivation sometimes. Braganza revealed her favorite songs that pump her up to help her sweat it out:
Listening to high-energy music during my workout motivates me, especially like Danza Kuduro or Starships by Nicki Minaj, which are great for intervals on the treadmill.
4. Snacks
Fuel is important too!
My gym bag has at least two snacks; often either a banana or an energy bar, which I eat 30 minutes before my workout, or Pirates Booty in aged white cheddar. With only 65 calories in the new half-ounce bag, it’s perfect for portion control and curing hunger pangs!
5. Compression Knee Sleeve
For an athlete, injuries are common. Braganza prevents future flair-ups by always toting her knee compression sleeve.
After tearing my ACL, I realized that in order to keep training hard, I would need some support so I make sure I have my 110% Blitz Knee Sleeve. Wearing it during my training provides muscle stability and is the most effective way to apply compression and ice post workout.
6. Hydration
It’s important to hydrate before, during, and after a workout, Braganza says, but you don’t have to just stick with plain old water.
My favorite post-workout beverage is one that packs some flavor and has zero calories like Vitaminwater Zero or a Diet Coke mini can. After all, I have worked hard!
7. Her Own DVD
Why? Braganza says:
I always carry a copy of my 321 Training Method DVD in my bag and gift it to clients for them to take along when they are working on location. The workout requires minimal equipment and can be done in a half-hour. It’s a great way to make fitness a part of your routine even when you’re traveling.
