When I was first asked to review the website My Yoga Online, I thought it was a great idea: rather than be limited to a few yoga DVDs, I could get far more videos on a website. That seemed like a good enough reason to get a membership to a yoga website.
What I discovered is that My Yoga Online is far, far more than just a website with yoga videos. They truly takes a holistic approach to your health and well-being. There are different programs that you can select, such as “Get Lean, Get Healthy” (for weight loss) or “Energy Boost” (to increase your energy levels). These programs do not just feature yoga videos that get your heart rate elevated: they talk about nutrition and the emotional and behavioral aspects of these programs (e.g., developing the habit of mindful eating, stress eating).
The website sends emails at times you designate with a daily goal for your program, as well as maintains a place on the website for you to keep a “Wellness Diary.” It’s this holistic approach that I appreciated the most. I think it’s much more likely to help you get the results you want.
However, if yoga videos are what you’re interested in, then My Yoga Online’s videos are excellent. The teachers give a lot of verbal instruction so you don’t have to choose between watching the screen and doing the pose. They have videos of varying skill levels and varying lengths of time, in case you only have time for a 20 minute workout or want to do a 60 minute one. They have videos of studio classes and yoga workshops as well, and even yoga videos for workouts that can be done at your desk at work!
My Yoga Online also has Pilates and Dance class videos. Their Mind Body TV is an extension of their holistic approach, with videos on topics ranging from headaches to healthy eating to hormones and energy. If you are interested in yoga or interested in taking a more holistic approach to your health and well-being, then My Yoga Online will be perfect for you.
