“X-Factor” judge Simon Cowell is quite a busy guy, so it’s to no surprise that he suffered a nervous breakdown this summer. According to a biography, “Sweet Revenge, The Intimate Life of Simon Cowell,” revealed that the hectic work schedule, sleep disorder, and chronic stress attributed to his breakdown.
Therefore, Cowell has been put on a detox diet which he was told to stop smoking, stop taking massive loads of vitamins, and a weekly intravenous drips (consisting of B12, magnesium and vitamin C), and was ordered to bed rest.
“I don’t want any more tablets and pills. I’m cutting out the lot, including cigarettes,” Cowell, 52, reported told “X-Factor “pal Louis Walsh. “I desperately need peace. I’m craving normality. I’ve got to work out my demons and come out of it.
“I have to get back to where I was years ago. I had to stop reading texts at three in the morning and making calls later and later. I wanted peace.”
It took three weeks to regain his mental and physical health again – he even excluded interacting with his friends and family until he got his strength.
“Suddenly his immune system collapsed and he was paralyzed by tiredness,” according to his biography. “After waking in the afternoon, he lay in his bed sensing an emergency.”
Cowell said about what he felt like during the time of his nervous breakdown:
“It hit me like a wave. My body was saying that I was turning into a weird vampire. My life was like a night shift. I’d forgotten the sensation of the morning.”
But even though Cowell slowed down a bit, he seems to be back to some of his bad habits, like smoking and working late.
“I genuinely still love smoking,” he said. “I equate smoking with having a good time. Literally.”
