Is it the super discounted Paul Mitchell haircuts at the end of the race? The promise of a free mud bath? Or the military obstacles and beautiful scenery of the run? Regardless, in the past year women have dominated in the Merrell Down and Dirty Mud Run with participation being 55% female! Fun runs and mud runs continue to grow in popularity, but one event has embraced the whole family with outdoor excitement for every age. Incorporating a 5k and 10k race for adults as well as a Kids 1 mile mud run and an adventure dash for the littler children, Merrell’s Down and Dirty Mud Run gets everyone together an active in the biggest playground we have – the outdoors.

The 2012 tour gets underway April 15th; this year’s extended season includes stops in ten markets across the country and will run through October. Not your average race, participants will tackle either 5K or 10K courses laid with challenging obstacles including hurdles and a slippery shampoo wall, before crawling through a massive mud pit to victory. Everyone, including the kids, completes the fun by crawling through a huge muddy pit to the finish. No one walks away clean, but everyone walks away with a smile!
